From the outset, Hub Westminster has placed a great importance on its role to host people, organisations, networks and movements, across a diverse range of sectors. It has been embraced wholeheartedly by a broad range of different sectors, providing an energetic environment that encourages innovation and creative new approaches to doing business.
Membership of Hub Westminster is made as affordable and flexible as possible. Organisations less than two years old are given discounted access to the facilities.
Launched in October 2011 on Pall Mall in London, Westminster City Council co-founded Hub Westminster with 00 and Simon Kirkham, working up an initial concept into a viable social enterprise, which is now generating a monthly operating profit, to re-invest in its membership community.
The Council committed a one-off grant of £300,000 and equity finance of £336,000 to get Hub Westminster started as a limited by shares Community Interest Company, taking a 40% shareholding.
Hub Westminster is now self-financing and continues to flourish.
