Heavy Vehicle Scrappage Scheme
New vehicle scrappage scheme introduced by the Mayor of London.
On Monday 29 September, the Mayor of London announced a revised scrappage scheme for old vehicles which do not meet the requirements of the tighter Low Emissions Zone standards that are being introduced on 1 March 2021. This scrappage scheme is a new version of a previous scheme for small businesses which ran for 18 months until August 2020 and allowed small businesses and charities to scrap older and more polluting vans and minibuses for free. The new scheme focuses on heavy vehicles and gives grants of £15,000 to charities and businesses with less than 50 employees to enable them to replace or retrofit heavy vehicles up to the cleanest Euro 6 standards.
